The skies are blue, a few wispy clouds dotted around. It is a great day to grab a flight to go and see the Blue Hole as some of my guests are doing in the next couple of hours. They are only paying just over 100usd each on a private 3-seater plane. I am trying to persuade them to take me as I like anything expensive like planes and boats but the big boss is too mean to have either. Anyway, I am very busy today as I’m arranging lunch for Jambo and myself tomorrow as Barcelona are playing Chelsea and we both want roast chicken, roast potatoes, veggies and yorkshire pudding!

The Island Ferry definitely needs an overhaul as it is too expensive, and it appears to have managerial problems. the staff are complacent and almost all restauarants and hotels north of the bridge complain about the service. the drivers,if told, seem to forget pick-ups which leaves our tourists on the dock for another hour. Also the complaints about rudeness are legendary as it appears customer satisfaction is not a requirement for this business.
It would probably be a good idea if the hotels and restaurants got together and started their own service but they would then have to work together -another unlikely event.

A very small cold front is passing which means we have a strong breeze and beautiful blue skies. Uncle Paul has gone with his friends to hit a white small ball around an island. a very odd way to spend the day, especially as Aji is open, and we are all going to see Baby P and eat everything.

It is a really nice day but according to my ever trusting noise there is a cold front on the way and that means we could well have rain tonight or tomorrow and I hope that the town do some serious spraying for those pesky critters that the rain seems to always bring.

Hello Poker Club Members and Friends,
We are going to kick off this awesome week of poker with something a bit unusual and fun and then finish the week off with a special Ladies Poker Night in honor of Ruthie’s annual departure from paradise.
Promotions
This week our Bad Beat Jackpot goes up to $4500. You want to be sure to stay in action so you get paid when it hits. Also, there is only one more week to beat Drew’s High Hand for April of a 9 High Straight Flush. Drew is set to win either a Kindle Fire or Acer Iconia Tab if you don’t beat his hand soon.
Sunday Tournament
We’re going to kick off Sunday with a special tournament at 5pm with a really fun format. It is a $10bz tournament with $5bz re-buys for the first four levels and a single $20bz add-on after the re-buy period has ended. Every time you knock someone out during the re-buy period, you will get a $5 bounty if they re-buy.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that the only moves allowed in this tournament are all-in or fold. When it’s your turn to act, no calls will be permitted… just all-in or fold.
This should be a really fun diversion from the same old tournament format and I really hope everyone comes to give it a try.
Cash Games
This week our 1/2us No Limit Hold’em cash games will start Sunday after the tournament (approx 6:30pm) and continueMonday and Wednesday at 7pm each day. As always, we provide the free food and drinks. Oh, and don’t forget about the limited time free room promotion. If you are staying at Pedro’s and play more than 3 hours of cash poker for the night, we pay for your room.
Ladies Poker Night
Thursday night at 7pm we will be holding another of our very popular Ladies Poker Nights. This week we’re saying “adios” to Ruthie who is heading home for the season. She asked that we send her home with some dough, so be sure to come and give her lots of chances to win or send her home penniless. The ladies game is a 1/2bz No Limit Holdem with a $50bz minimum buy-in. We pay for the pizza and rum/beer drinks. Ladies Night is always a fun and relaxed night for poker so be sure to give it a try. And don’t worry if you don’t have a lot of poker experience. We give a lesson at 6:30 if you want to come a bit early and have cheat sheets for everyone during the game. We would love to see you all there!
We hope to see everyone this week at Pedro’s and as always,
Best Regards and Better Cards,

Yet again there are more late night bars opening with personable young ladies helping the customers spend their monies before they get back to their families. Also it appears that in these bars of which there are 12 that the air conditioning units do not work as these ladies keep taking their clothes off due,we suppose,to the excessive heat. Yet again it seems one law for some and another law for others.
Also for the night clubs, of which there are three, it would be interesting for the fire dept. to do a spot inspection as we believe only Jaguar’s would pass the test.

Back Yard Breeders in San Pedro Are Causing Our Dog Overpopulation Problem
The longer I am here in San Pedro the more it irks me. Almost daily I see puppies and ask the question
that I already know the answer to. Are you planning to spay or neuter? 90% of the time the answer is
No. Why? Because they know they can have puppies and sell them.
Often times these people are not even Belizean. They are ex-pats who should know better. They are
willingly contributing to a big problem in their community, for a tiny bit of personal financial gain.
San Pedro is an extraordinary place. It has not one, but two animal charities which will spay and neuter
pets FOR FREE, YEAR ROUND. The problem is that pet owners here do not care enough to do the right
thing.
So what is the answer? How do we convince pet owners that what they are doing is wrong. Personally,
I think we as a community should put a lot more peer pressure on them. Having a Cook Off for Saga
Humane Society? Every pet owner who has ever bred their dog and sold the pups should be pressured
to supply a dish. Want a free dewormer for your puppies that you will soon be selling for a profit? No
Way. Want a free consult for your sick dog? No, if she is not spayed you HAVE to pay for it, or agree to
have her spayed as soon as she is well (free of charge, of course).
These are not unreasonable penalties for making a profit off your pet while adding to our island’s pet
overpopulation problem. If you are breeding your dog, don’t kid yourself. A number of those puppies
will not go to a good home. A number of them will end up abandoned on the street, suffering as a
homeless person would. Getting into garbage, spreading diseases that can infect people, leaving feces
in our streets and on our beaches, giving tourists a negative impression of our island, and of course,
breeding and making even more unwanted dogs. Or they will end up at the humane society, looking for
a home, costing your community hundreds of dollars in donation money. Or worse, they will have to be
euthanized because they are no longer adoptable for medical or behavioral reasons.
As a community we should no longer let these selfish pet owners off the hook.
