Yesterday

5304bzd was deposited in the Liberty bank account which is for presents for the kids and bonuses for the staff.

10,000bzd was deposited at BEL

1300bzd was paid for the boat to bring the kids and Liberty’s staff to Pedro’s

That means all monies have gone to where they were supposed to and if anyone wants to donate money to the orphanage. They can go to the Phoenix Resort or Pedro’s and see Cindy (tel 226-3825)

Poker at Pedro’s on Ambergris Caye Tonight

Well tonight there will be a game and it will start at 7.00pm sharp

Liberty Fund Raiser -Total monies being distributed

The monies being distributed are as follows
1300 bzd to bring the teachers and the students to Pedro’s for their best day out of the year.
2400bzd for the teachers carers xmas bonus (100bzd each)
2300 bzd for the kids xmas presents which will be delivered on xmas day by Santa Claus.
9350bzd to BEl which will be paid directly to Liberty’s account.
There was other monies collected but some bills had to be paid.All the chicken was donated by Peter Lawrence and Pam Morell, and the kids and helpers ate for free (70 portions).
To thank everyone who helped is one big list but here goesw and if anyone is forgotten it was unintentional.

Charlie and Jambo’s Weather Report on Ambergris Caye

Well last night and early this morning we got tons of rain but now the sun has popped his head out, and I am going to take Jambo for a walk. The bosses are busy, and I know where there is some delightful doggy treats and dead fish to roll about in. The best thing is that Jambo will get the blame.
The sea is incredibly calm and it is just great for diving and snorkelling.

Ladies Poker Night at Pedro’s

Jason will be running a fun and informative Poker Primer at 6:30pm and this will be followed by a low stakes Ladies-only cash game to start around 7:00pm. Last week was great fun, the girls proved they are MUCH better players than the men by not getting angry, not throwing chairs, not cursing their bad luck and all the time having a great time.

How to Lose your Savings in Belize

First overpay for a small piece of land. Then think that all you have to do is go down to your favorite bar and pick up a couple of strays and waifs who are not yet shit faced, and tell them you are now a contractor, and need their help in building your dream house.
Listen to everything that your new best friends tell you. Why get building permits when you can pay under the table and just not bother. Plans well they can be drawn on the back of a cigarette packet-anyone can do this and saves a fortune by not using an architect.
Spend the next few weeks in the bar with your team and get totally shit faced with them as they order the building supplies from their cousin who is somewhere on the mainland and he of course is very well connected.
Laugh at any of the professional builders as you are saving a fortune and can spend even more money at the bar. Your building supplies eventually arrive and of course some of the stuff is on back order and you cannot start construction until it arrives even though you paid (through the nose) in advance. No problem you can still spend your savings in the bar.
Three months later you start to build and then the building inspector comes down and says you need a permit. Your best friends are aghast but it is not their fault as this inspector is new to the area. Oh well back to the bar and spend some more of the saved money. You then meet an expat who can help you through these problems and he is now on the team and you all celebrate together. Three weeks pass and a good few thousand later you have plans and you enter them to the building committee. They are turned down as they have not been stamped by an engineer.
You have to go back to the USA and you leave some money behind in the bar and your team will start to build. You come back and all the building supplies have disappeared.
Obviously this story shows that professionals are not needed when you can just meet anyone in a bar.

It is going to be a fantastic day as the sun is already out and the sky is totally blue.
We had lots of pizza last night and Dumbo looks particularly fat. I,of course, am as good looking as ever.
