San Pedro Sun | Sunday, August 15th saw the first leg of the Under-19’s home and away championship match held at the Ambergris Stadium. The boys from home performed exceptionally throughout the match keeping the game very tight against Belize City’s Brown Bombers. At the end of the game, both teams were tie at 3-3, scoring from San Pedro were Travis Ellis – 1 goal and Edwardo Cardona – 2 goals.
Tres Pescados Tournament | Pro Division 1st Place and winner of the 2011 IGFA World Championship invitation – Team Anglers Abroad. Pro Division 2nd Place – Team Fly Guyz. Pro Division 3rd Place – Team Red House.
Amateur Division 1st Place – Team Bad Boyz. Top Guide Award went to Ken Coc guiding the Anglers Abroad Team.
Men’s Casting competition 1st Place went to Cezar Acosta from San Pedro, Belize with a distance of 99 feet. Women’s Casting competition 1st Place went to Hillary Johnson with 43 feet. Youth Casting competition 1st Place went to Byron Lara from San Pedro with 69 feet. All 1st place winners in the casting competition won a custom Belize built fly rod.

Jaguar's Temple Night Club Karaoke Competition
San Pedro Sun | Last night at the Jaguar’s Temple nightclub, saw the commencement of Karaoke 2010 in San pedro. Taking the stage were Javier Castillo, Ramon Flores, Israel Zetina, Mark Elliot, Celia De Pinto and Jeol Andino.
Some contestants were repeat contestants and some first timers. The crowd was well entertained. At the end of the night, two finalists moved on to the fnals – Audience Favorite – Javier Castillo and Judges’ Pic – Joel Andino!
The 2nd Annual Tres Pescados Slam Tournament is currently underway. Be a part of another outragous grand slam, all catch-and-release, 3 day, world championship qualifier tournament only found in Belize!

Ambergris Today | In last week’s edition of Ambergris Today we introduced to you the six beautiful young ladies that will be vying for the title of Miss San Pedro on Saturday, September 4, 2010. The six attractive San pedranas who will be on center stage at this year’s pageant are Genny Rhaburn, Lila Gonzalez, Ivy Alamilla, Mishelby Leiva, Gelie Nuñez and Natasha Stewart.
This past weekend the girls traveled to Chetumal, Quintana Roo where they went shopping and visited several important places. They also have many lunches, dinner and other places to visit prior to pageant.
Ambergris Today had the opportunity to sit and chat with the excited young ladies and we asked them a few questions. Meet the lovely contestants of this year’s Miss San Pedro Beauty Pageant:

San Pedro Belize Triathlon
Ambergris Today | The first annual Costa Maya Triathlon was held on Sunday, August 8, and by the turnout of participants and spectators it surely seems that it won’t be the last. Six teams and ten individual participants lined up on the beach front at the race’s start by Wayo’s beach where swimmers completed a quarter mile course.

Coming back to the beach, the swimmers tagged their partners who then commenced the second leg of the race which was a bike ride to Victoria House and back to the beach. The third leg of the race was a sprint to the Belize Yacht Club and back to town where the finish line awaited the racers at the Costa Maya Festival grounds.
Winning the triathlon was the Coast Guard team comprised of Jamaila Requeña, Joel Borland and Marco Castellanos with a time of 35mins 3sec and coming in first in the individual race was Eric Donis with a time of 38mins.

International Costa Maya Festival 2010 comes to a close
San Pedro Sun | The International Costa Maya Festival drew to a close on Sunday night with a slew of performances that had families out in numbers. The main draw was the performances by KTV Latino finalists Oneida Shaw, Desmond Berry and San Pedro’s own, Natalie Arceo, as well as the onstage antics of Ozzy and Chispin the clowns, and for a grand finale, the group BILBAO. The audience was entertained from start to finish with great music, raunchy comedy and imitators both on and off the stage. Yet another successful Costa Maya festival.

San Pedro Sun | Friday Night for Costa Maya is a night of culture and music, and this Friday was no different as the stage welcomed the Ballet Folklorico de Quintana Roo’s (Mexico) cultural dances, Belize’s very own Nu Generation Dance Group as part of the entertainment before the main draws of the evening. Guatemala’s Mario Mejia serenaded the crowd with a mix of both English and Spanish songs, including his very own originals.
Honduras’ Yerbaklan duo of Csarec and Jimmy James definitely brought the hype on the stage afterwards with their very unique mix of music… and the girls of Costa Maya Pageant 2010 even got on stage to party with them…. It was definitely a variety of entertainment, and the crowd was enjoying it all!!
Saturday Night’s Angel y Khriz will surely be another big draw for this year’s Costa Maya Festival, and The San Pedro Sun will be on site to bring all the great pictures and news of the performance.
