The organizing committee of San Pedro Lobsterfest is pleased to announce the official dates of the 2012 San Pedro Lobsterfest. Festivities will begin on Friday June 15th, 2012 and culminate with the traditional Lobsterfest Block Party on Saturday June 23rd, 2012. With 9 days of celebrations of all things Lobster, the 2012 San Pedro Lobsterfest is the longest and largest Lobsterfest yet! Stay tuned for more announcements of specific events and locations leading up to June.

Last night Pedro’s hosted a huge lobsterfest party and it was a great success. There were many locals and many visitors to the island, and they all had one thing in common and that was that they were all enjoying themselves.
Gino who played with Drummer Dan, Derek, Doug and Santiago and led the party by playing all the old rock favourites. He collared Cindy and said we must do this more often. Cindy and Carrie who both worked behind the bar were both knackered but showed some enthusiasm for bringing Gino back, and maybe making it a bi-monthly event.

Well here at the Ambergris Daily we’re rather bleary-eyed (as were all San Pedro news reporters) as we cheered off the amazing participants of the Eco Challenge this morning. We were all there around 5.30 this morning quietly cheering our friends on. By 6am when the excitement was building and the coffee had worked its way through our systems we were cheering much louder. Of all the kayakers only 2 were kayaking alone (that we could see): Tyrone Miles aka “Tyroneosaurus Rex” and Willie Leslie from Searious Adventure- good luck guys!!!! We will be sailing out to meet you tomorrow….Don’t forget fun filled activities in Central Park tomorrow – Please show your support at noon tomorrow when the first participants should be crossing the finish line. Come and cheer them back.

March is always a very exciting time with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, and this year the Madness extends all the way to San Pedro Belize! This year’s tourney starts with Play-In Games on March 15th and 16th, while the tournament proper begins on March 17th (which happens to be the night of the St Patrick’s Day Costume Kegger and Trivia Party!) Cory McDermott’s son, Sean, will be performing “Broadway to Country” Friday March 25 at 8pm at the Paradise Theater. Part of the proceeds go to Mama Vilma House. An Art show is planned for the lobby. The price is 35$ per ticket and includs the bridge toll. Special guests are James Anest and Kara Shaw. Tickets can be purchased at Reef Village resort, Victoria House, Banana Beach, Ramon’s, Pelican Reef, the Phoenix, Captain Sharks and Mr Joe’s grocery.

Belize Electricity Limited advises its customers in San Pedro Town that the supply of electricity will be temporarily interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2011.
Areas to be affected: All that area North of Boca Del Rio.
BEL apologizes for the inconvenience caused but this outage is necessary for the company to facilitate system improvement works on the distribution system in the area.

San Pedro Sun | The San Pedro Lions Club held their annual Senior Citizen party last night. Island residents over the age of 60 were invited to an evening of turkey dinner with all the trimmings, drinks, gifts, raffle prizes and dancing to the music of Rompe Raja. The festive night was a huge success and enjoyed by all who attended.
