Channel 5 Belize | The University of Belize (UB) through the Environmental Research Institute (ERI) and its partnership with the Mesoamerican Society for Biology and Conservation (MSBC) is hosting the fourth Annual Natural Resources Management (NRM) Research Symposium.

The two day symposium begins on Tuesday at the University of Belize (UB) Jaguar Auditorium, in Belmopan. The theme for this year’s symposium is: “Exchanging research knowledge to promote sound decision-making for natural resource management in Belize.”

Researchers from the ERI and UB NRM students will be joined by local and international counterparts conducting research in Belize to present their latest findings in the field of natural resources management. The symposium will include both oral and poster presentations on biodiversity conservation and the management of marine protected areas, as well as special invited guests discussing petroleum operations in Belize and the impact on the environment.

Every year the symposium presents a unique opportunity for natural resources managers and researchers to discuss the most recent developments in the field and contribute to the body of scientific knowledge needed to sustainably manage Mesoamerica’s natural resources.
