San Pedro Animal Foundation Comes to the Rescue on Ambergris Caye

Yesterday Lupito a spaniel mix was runover by a car and his leg was very badly injured and his owner, who works for Victoria House Hotel, rushed him to the San Pedro Animal Hospital which provides 24 hour emergency veternarian service. DVM Laurie Droke examined Lupita and found that the leg would have to be amputated, and the owner was devastated as her best friend was going to lose his leg and also she could not afford the fees.

The San Pedro Animal Foundation was contacted and they volunteered 400bzd to pay for the drugs and pain medication. Dr. Laurie volunteered her time and 4 hours later the operation was completed and was considered a great success.

As of this monday morning Lupito appears to be in the best of health, considering he  has lost one of his legs, and he should be going home tomorrow but will be treated by Dr. Laurie over the forthcoming weeks.

A huge thank-you and well done to the San Pedro Animal Hospital,The San Pedro Animal Foundation and of course Dr. Laurie who is the only full time resident vet on Ambergris Caye.
