“Stay Away!”

There isn’t enough space here to convey how disappointed we were with our family vacation here 12/29/12-1/5/13. First, our reservation was misplaced; then, once this was finally taken care of a day later, the “penthouse” we’d reserved was seriously misrepresented, so way overpriced. Our unit was sparsely furnished with old appliances, very few pictures on the wall, and no cooking and eating utensils of any kind (until we complained). What little furniture we had was cheap, worn and missing handles, etc. Not a chair, coffee-table, end-table or vase in the place. Had to move the balcony table and chairs inside to have a place to eat. Construction was ongoing to the south and west of our unit. The hotel manager was rude, argumentative and did nothing but give us the runaround (I’m being polite here). Promises of compensation for our trouble were made but never delivered on. As for misrepresenting the room as a Penthouse? This was never acknowledged. Wifi? Nonexistent, except near the lobby, and then very patchy. Phone? Only to call the lobby, no local calls allowed. TV? Tiny, cheap, no remote. Amenities? None. We felt like we had little recourse but to stay. I’m now trying to involve Expedia as an advocate, but the best they’ve done so far is to convey my complaint to the hotel, which was unnecessary, I assure you. The hotel is fully aware of my discontent and has done nothing to compensate us. All in all, this was the worst possible place for us to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. WE WERE CONNED AND RIPPED OFF.
