Burglers Trash San Pedro Roman Catholic School

LoveFM | Who and what is there to steal from inside a school you would say? That is the similar question that officials at the San Pedro Roman Catholic School (SPRCS) are trying to answer after they discovered that the school was burglarized and vandalized. It is the second time since the summer vacation started. The discovery was made on Tuesday August 10th, after a parent alerted the school principal that someone was selling items allegedly stolen from a school. The intruders gained access to inside the building and stole a number of valuable items and cause a complete mess inside three class rooms, the staff room and the principal’s office. School Principal Roxanne Kay, told Love News that the last time she visited the school was two weeks ago and for the most part, things seems normal.

“I got a call from a parent who asked me if I am sure that my school was not vandalized today. I called one of my vice principals to come and check. We came in here and we found out that it was vandalized and it seems that they came in through about four or three classes.”

The intruder or intruders broke windows, stamped and tore down doors, broke open a hole in one of the concrete wall, defecated all over the building and over boxes of text books, destroyed and turned over text books and scattered every possible thing in their sight. Principal Kay said that much of the problem faced by the school has to do with people using the 5-A-Side field within the school compound.

“We have been battling over this situation over the past years. The field in not open to the public, It is not for the town board it is for the school. We rent it to people who want it to the town board or any organization that wants to use it but they have the mentality that it is for the public. Everyday as the 2:30 bell rings we see outsider coming in. most of the times, I must say, we have to approach them and that is kind of dangerous for us because we have to go through a lot of cursing and threatening words from whoever is there. Many times the children find drug over on that side. I just want the public to know that that belongs to the school and no one should be inside the 5–A-Side court especially right now. If you go back there right now you will find a crowd of people in there and when the gates are locked they jump the fence and that’s how they get in.”

While police investigations are young and ongoing, it is believed that access to the building was gained through a window on the south-western part of the upper flat of the building. According to Police, evidence suggests that the incident involved both minors and adults. Police are following a number of leads and has detained a number of suspects including minors. The public is being asked to refrain from buying suspected stolen goods. If you know any information about the incident, you are asked to contact Roxanne Kay at 622-3266 or call the nearest Police Station.
